Mariental Municipality is a Part II Municipal Council with 7 Councillors. It has 3 departments, namely Finance, HR, Administration, Technical and Economic Development and a labor force of 103 through which it provides services to the local community

Vision and Mission: Pro-actively communicate information on government programs and
policies to internal and external stakeholder audiences
-Provide permissible access to government information to the public.
-Effectively use available technologies and communication tools for
effective and timely information dissemination.
-Identify and manage factors that negatively impact government image
and provide restorative measures.
-Strengthen government media relations locally, nationally and
internationally.
-Monitor media and provide feedback on all queries related to
government activities, programs and policies.
-Promote a two-way communication, horizontally and vertically to
inform, educate and collect information from the public to policy makers to promote transparency and accountability
